Aubra L. "Butch" Lee, Vice President of Earth-Search, the company contracted to review the bridge ramp for possible Native American artifacts, informed us that work will begin on the old Black River Bridge ramp Monday August 24th.
He went on to say, “Monday we will be mapping the ramp as it sits now, taking photos, etc. Tuesday, James Construction will begin taking the grass off the ramp, and then will begin to remove the fill soil on top of the mound soil. We will removed the Mound 5 (Great Mound) soil in thin layers so we can see what's in the soil and then we will put it to the side so we can then go through the mound dirt again to make sure we do not miss anything.”
“We are scheduled to finish going through the soil by September 18th, unless we find something out of this world. So you need to have your bulldozer guys ready to build the replica mound after the 18th when the mound soil will be moved to the replica’s location”.
Lee also said, “I would like to have a meeting to show people what we've found so far. I feel this will be about the third week in the process.”
