Bridge Explosion and Great Mound Dirt Meeting

A public meeting will be held Thursday, June 25th at 5:30 p.m. at the Jonesville Town Hall to update the public about the Black River Bridge explosion and the status of the dirt that will be used to construct a replica of the Great Mound of Troyville.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and James Construction, the primary bridge contractor, along with the demolition crew will have representatives present to answer questions about the bridge explosion and the status of the Great Mound dirt.
Aubrey “Butch” Lee with Earth Search, the company that will study the Great Mound dirt as it is moved, will be in attendance to answer questions about the removal of the dirt.
Also expected to attend are Joe Saunders, regional archaeologist stationed in Monroe and representatives of the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians.
