Cater F. Aplin, Jr. and his wife Lillian have published a book, Diary of a Sailor, which is a 480 page daily account of Aplin’s experience aboard the submarine U.S.S. Bowfin during World War II.

In diary form, the author provides a daily account of his crew’s naval encounters, battles, achievements and daily life during one of our nation’s most crucial periods.

Aplin, a Catahoula Parish native and a member of the distinguished order known as the “Mighty Mine Dodgers,” provides a terrifying account of missions in the Sea of Japan – known as the Emperor of Japan’s own playground.

In narrative form, the volume was written for Aplin’s beloved wife Lillian, whom he had married only two weeks prior to his naval deployment, and includes selected personal letters, photographs, news clippings, articles, citations and awards, all preserved through the years by Lillian Aplin.

The book sales for $29.95 plus shipping and handling. If you would like a copy of the book please email for more information.
